Dennis made his first appearance in the funny pages on March 12, 1951. Later, Hank Ketcham changed Dennis’ official birthday to March 14 to coincide with his own, which means we get to celebrate twice!
Dennis the Menace may be known as a troublemaker, but he has never crossed the line into bullying. In October, school administrators and teachers at Miller Elementary School in Canton, Michigan invited David Crumm, editor of ReadTheSpirit magazine, to brainstorm ideas for engaging young students to recognize and stand up against bullying. Once again, the Dennis the Menace creative team lends their support to America’s PrepareAthon, a community-based campaign for a day of action, coordinated by FEMA to increase emergency preparedness and resilience through hazard-specific drills, group discussions and exercises.
